S3 Satcom Specialises in the supply, integration and installation of fixed earth stations around the world. The S3 Satcom team has a wealth of experience in all types of fixed earth stations from simple 1+1 SCPC TV uplinks through to major DTH uplink stations and Telecom gateways. They offer comprehensive and cost effective solutions to the communication needs of broadcasters, telecom operators and ISPs. The equipment can be housed in buildings, shelters; complete with full power distribution, UPS and air conditioning or even self-contained air-conditioned cabinets. Equipment is available for all the main satcom frequency bands. S3 Satcom’s installation and commissioning personnel are fully experienced in all aspects of on-site work. Commissioning work includes the full approval testing with the satellite operator and assistance with the registration of the earth station

Each system is custom designed by S3 Satcom’s professional team of engineers. They undertake all the system calculations ensuring maximum operating efficiency. The production team oversee all aspects of the equipment integration. The earth station components are chosen from the world’s leading suppliers; the criteria for their inclusion in an S3 Satcom system being their reliability, maintainability, ease of use and cost effectiveness. Quality is controlled throughout the design and build process ensuring optimum system performance and reliability.

Unit layout in the equipment racks is designed for ease of use and where applicable ease of expansion to meet future requirements. Extensive use of patch panels and krone blocks ensures maximum flexibility in the operation of the station and ease of maintenance. All wiring in the racks and throughout the installation is in accordance with IEE standards and regulations. ‘Dirty’ supplies feed items such as motors and air-conditioners whereas a ‘clean’ supply is used for all technical equipment. Rack layouts within the building or cabin are arranged to maximise space and access.

S3 Satcom’s in-house remote control and monitoring system provides a user friendly interface for the monitoring and control of all the equipment within the earth station. The bespoke software runs on a supervisor computer with common single or multiple workstation clients which can be located anywhere so long as there is a LAN or modem connection to the supervisor. Features of the RM&C software include redundancy control, comprehensive event logging facilities, extensive user assigned password protection and the ability to switch equipment into maintenance mode.

Telephone support is also available from S3 Satcom’s engineers who can be available for local assistance if required at short notice. Comprehensive training can be given either in the factory or on-site by our experienced technicians and engineers. All systems are provided complete with extensive handbooks and drawings ensuring hassle-free fault finding and rectification.
